ALMAZA MEMOIRS Southern skies now seem as dead as history Will I see them anymore? Those tall buildings facing out towards the sea Keeping face through feast and war On a balcony above the noisy streets I would drink my diamond brew Wondering why I slept alone between those sheets And had grown so afraid of you But now these candles and Winter nights Wash away your face Through the city craze and sweet October breeze I went walking through your town Amongst those buildings facing out towards the sea I was sure I’d let you down But now these candles and Winter nights Wash away your trace And I’m blinded by parties and Christmas lights As I confine myself to silent memory I recall those towers roar Your proud city facing out towards the sea Greets a new day from the shore

Low 03:16
LOW It is you and I in shameless fantasy We keep falling into heaven And if you and I were ever meant to be Then you can meet me after seven Or right away Into heaven, yeah Into heaven, yeah We’ll sink so low Sink so low Here we are again in helpless reverie With just technology between us And since we’re stuck right here Dialing numbers, pushing buttons, being silly At least we can be sure that no-one sees us You in the heat, me in the cold Talking too fast and moving too slow Into heaven, yeah Into heaven, yeah We’ll sink so low Sink so low They say it’s by our mistakes we learn So feel the heat while those bridges burn You blew my mind and I just blew it It couldn’t last, I think you knew it

WATCH THE SHOW Finally a familiar place Never have these naked walls been so uplifting ‘Cause speeding ‘round the world at your pace Leaves you all so unimpressed while the scenery’s shifting Those airports are just so depressing Crowded and boring and cold And your destination is never Quite like you’ve been told You wish you’d stayed at home Take a seat in your favorite chair Open up a window just to let the air in It’s hard to believe that you once didn’t care ‘Cause now the hustle bustle of the world is so scary So tired of waiting at airports Fed up with standing in line And rushing to get to the right gate In the nick of time You’d rather stay at home You’d rather stay at home And phone some friends And watch the show ‘Cause airports are just so disgusting Shiny and lonely and grey And all of your great expectations Are just swept away You’d rather stay at home You’d rather stay at home And phone some friends And watch the show

Places 02:43
PLACES Raindrops crashing on cobble stones People rush inside Sweet air embracing the city sounds Secrets we all hide and hold inside It’s a nice day for watching the clouds drift by Or just walk the streets Searching those soothing, familiar spots Places where we won’t meet at all, I know You’ve gone and I am safe again Alone

Sweet Lament 02:22
SWEET LAMENT There is nothing we can do about the weather in this world And the same old rule applies for the beautiful, young girl Which your head desires to have, but your feeble hands can’t hold It can really make you laugh There are things you can’t deny, there are things you can’t explain Certain issues to be solved requiring more than just one brain Still the world keeps spinning ‘round, still it’s always out of hand Should we laugh or should we die (?) As I sing another song As I open a new book Or search for interesting films with my interested look These poor things are just a means Only manners of escape It should really make you laugh

THE PLACE WE ALWAYS AIMED FOR You talk about your day Saying everything is fine You talk a mile a minute but I see it in your eyes Something’s not the way it used to be and I think I know why Could it be that you are telling me lies? Could it be that you are telling me lies? I recall how you would glow When speaking of your dreams I recall how your ambition was just bursting at the seams Then reality crashed in on you and vapourised your schemes And your pride just can’t take it And your words just can’t fake it Is this the place we always aimed for We just didn’t know it then? Maybe we’re just too ashamed for Having spent our days in Such utter denial Our days spent in denial Now our hearts are on trial Our days in denial There were times when you could reach Something deep inside of me Now I’m only reaching out for what I know will set me free I just never could believe that you’d give up so easily Is there nothing worth saving? Not when everything’s caving in Is this the place we always aimed for We just didn’t know it then? Slowly differences grew more and more And we’ve been spending Our days in denial

NARCISSUS AND ME Indecision always was my biggest sin So afraid of missing out I don’t begin And now it seems like it’s gonna take forever Well, anyway they’re making far too many songs But who am I to talk? My list of crimes is long And now it seems like I’m out of the game forever The more I try it the less i like it What doesn’t kill you can still really kick you around You won’t be stronger Neither will you learn anything profound And so I lost all my ambition to the blues Slid from higher goals to watching evening news And so it seems like it’s gonna take forever There’s no couple quite like Narcissus and me Oh what a team! What perfect chemistry! And now it seems like I’m stuck with him forever I’m not partaking, I’m merely observing What doesn’t kill you can still really kick you around You won’t be stronger Neither will you learn anything profound What doesn’t kill you can still really kick you around And on a day like today not even all the trash of this town Could get me down Narcissus and me We’re meant to be

about

Meberg is the solo project of Tore Meberg, former lead singer of bands like The Love Revolt and Czechoslovakia. His soothing and expressive voice is perfectly suited to the kind of sophisticated, timeless pop music he writes and performs. Influenced by the great craftsmanship of legends like Burt Bacharach, The Beach Boys and The Carpenters, as well as more recent artists like The Divine Comedy, Antony & The Johnsons and Richard Hawley.

Meberg's second album, humbly titled "Second To Some", is a collection of tasteful, musical goodies, with Meberg's warm and expressive vocals as the main ingredient.
